Default Telescoping steering wheel issue

In my 2003 VDP the Telescoping steering wheel motor runs but does nothing. I can hear it working but the wheel doesn't move forward it tilts fine. It almost sounds like something is stripped I can hear a clicking sound like gears slipping.

Yes, the gears are slipping. The gear is plastic and splits open, losing its ability to turn the pedal adjuster. I had this problem when I first bought my XJ-8L.

Oops, my mistake - you have a column problem, not a pedal problem. Disregard my earlier post ! But I do remember verious postings about column problems. Just do a search and I'm sure you'll find some help.

Thanks, I have been searching the forums found out what I couldn't find exactly what I needed. I found out they really do not call it telescoping but REACH and the Reach motor. I can get the motor cheap but the work to do the repair is just crazy. It's not important if it works it's where I like it but the motor clicking drives me nuts. I wouldn't doubt its a bad gear though. I asked a few guys in my local Jaguar club J.A.N.E and so far no one has had the problem.

This column is more complicated than the older X100/X300/X308.

You might try WDS/IDS/SDD to see if any DTCs are present.
