Default Tempting Fate?

Dear Forum,

After all of my earlier tribulations (and the fantastic inputs and efforts of many Members of this excellent Forum) I have just had a full year of very enjoyable motoring with nothing more than an oil change (with the addition of the BG engine additive and fuel system cleaner) and two (very necessary) new tyres.

At 172,000 kilometres she has been beautiful throughout!

Cheers for managing, and enjoying what average (uninformed) people think of as "unreliable money-pit" cars. In my experience, yours and many others, they are anything but. My 2 x350's, X308 and 94 XJS (AJ16) have all been reliable, comparable to a late 99 Toyota Avalon in reliability, if slightly higher fuel consumption - perhaps 3-5 mpg lesson average.

Here's to a few more good years on the Jag. I had similar miles on my XJ8L when it crashed and burned. Literally. Even then, it served beautifuly, handling a major collison with an outcome that one would expect of a Mercedes S-Class, Volvo, or full sized Lexus, Lincoln etc. I think I bruised a rib in a 75MPH crash into a stopped or slow rolling vehicle; the only better outcome would have required the "seat belt airbags available on cars a decade newer. Not bad.

You own and drive a beautiful luxury marque from a storied brand that sits perennially on the list of under-rated, under-valued, under-appreciated cars that surprise and delight folks everywhere. Except by those that own them! As time passes, X350's get more and more positive attention, being the last XJ that stylistically traces it's hetitage to the 1960's Mark X, in addition to the 1968 XJ6. It's no Mark X, perhaps in beauty, but the world class engineering gives it modern drivability. Enjoy every minute of ownership!
