Thinking... of selling
Hi Guys,
Thinking of selling my 04 XJR (black/black) fully loaded, including adaptive cruise (still works), nav, heated seats/steering wheel, rear entertainment and rear HVAC.
120.4K miles.
No issues. Everything works, runs, and drives great!
Thinking real hard, probably new front rotors eventually and replacement of the rubber gasket for the oil cooler lines to oil filter assembly. (I have the rubber o ring seal)
As you all know I do all my own work. Trans serviced at 95K miles, including bridge, tube and mechatronic seal.
Everything flashed to the latest Jaguar software, TCM, ECM, etc.
Coil overs installed, new radiator and most hoses including hose under SC. New fuel pumps, spark plugs.
19" Jag rims w/ newer tires.
What should I be looking at for pricing? It's all over the map.
Thanks

I tried to sell my 2007 XJ8-L when it was about 7 or 8 years old, showroom condition, and priced it lower than others were asking. Listings were up for a month and I had zero serious inquiries. I think people are more comfortable buying these from a dealer.
Did the same with my wife’s 10 year-old Volvo and had five serious buyers in 24 hours. found AutoTrader to be useless. Just lowball offers from dealers looking to flip it. The forums (like this) generated no interest. Then I put it on Craigslist and my phone blew up within hours. I told buyers that all test drives would commence at the police station. Sold it for asking within a day.
Good luck. You took great care of that beautiful car.

As for prices, I suggest looking at the previous sales on https://carsandbids.com/ and https://bringatrailer.com/. Especially Bring A Trustfund (Bring A Trailer); lots of excellent historical on the current going prices for XJ8s.
You might want to consider listing it on either of these sites...There are dealers who specialize in Jaguars constantly scanning these for buying and reselling (i.e., Vantage). You can set the reserve at something you must get, so no risk of some crazy lowball offer, and they both get national level attention.
It's an especially lovely example of XJ you got there

I sold my '04 XJR with 76k miles in December for $16k. A gentlemens wife made the purchase as a birthday present to replace his recently totaled XJ8-L.
Mine was black/black, no navigation (I actual prefer the standard over navigation setup), trans filter fluids changed, brakes and rotors, and all bushings replaced along with air bags. The vehicle was also exceptionally clean and pampered. A PPI was paid for by the purchaser, which I believe influenced the non haggle asking price purchase.
Yours has more appointments with DVD, Nav and ACC.
This is what I've come to understand. Value drops substantially past 100k (more perception than reality, yet it matters). Non-airbags also has a negative affect on resale value. I'd strongly suggest having a PPI inspection to enhance the final sale price. My guesstimate would be $13-14k with a clean bill of health PPI. Without it $9-11k.
Auctions produce mixed results, but worth a try. BaT is $99 + photos and a long wait time. Documentation, timelines and transparent engagement are critical for auctions.
FYI, i was recently invited to lunch by the new owner. I regret selling the XJR. Didn't feel the same way after selling the XKR in early '23.

No, haven't even put it up for sale. Just was looking for feedback if I was to place it for sale a good asking price.
Thanks
