Hi was checking the fluids today and noticed the radiator top hose looked collapsed between the center section and where it goes into the block. (engine cold) I topped off the coolant and the hose regained its shape. Does it need changing and if so will the new one still do this if the coolant level goes down? (it was only down less than a pint, with triple digits temps here).


Also the parts list appears to show a single piece hose for my model (no turbo) but it's actually in 3 pieces with a metal join in the middle. I am thinking maybe a bodge-up but all three pieces have a dot of brown paint that are all aligned and look like a factory thing. Bit curious, does anyone know?

So this morning I checked the hose with the engine cold and it was again collapsed. I started the car and as soon as I removed the coolant filler cap the hose sprang back into shape. Is there some kind of air lock going on here?
