Default Tricks to Control Options

I have just found out how to disable seatbelt chime. Tell the group what tricks you know how to do to change varies functions of your car that you don't normally know. I found out one for the seatbelt chime.

For chime only:
Sit in vehicle, passenger seat empty. Start car, with seatbelt light on, latch seat belt, when light goes out, unlatch. When light comes back on, latch belt, repeat this 8 times, you will get confirmation chime. To reenable, repeat procedure.

Please share what you have found out.

Cheers

Well I did the seatbelt chime disable. Then I noticed that the icon on the instrument panel was on when I started motor again. So I did it again, with motor running, and then the icon went away too! So now I have no chime and no irritating icon lit up! Yay!

You're still way lucky to have not an annoying buzzing sound , it's not bearable when you open the driver's door let alone driving w/o seat belt .

The icon does not bother me too bad. I didn't know that doing it again would knock out the light also. I thought there were some legal issues with the icon.

well, i take that back, guys, the icon does come on at startup, but then it goes away after 20 seconds or so, and then it STAYS off! but the icon did bother me because i don't like additional lights on my instrument panel!

This annoys me, no way (either dealer or self evidently) to retain the last setting on the big display screen (sat nav cars), always goes back to muliple choice buttons on white screen.

DB6, try to see if this helps....what ever screen/setting you had have on while you're driving, hit the menu button and turn your screen off ( i don't like to have my screen on while driving...call it part anti-distraction, part i don't want it to "wear out"). when i restart the car later, everything is as i had it when i stopped the car, and it's on the last screen before i turned the screen off......hope it doesn't sound ridiculous. i also hope i understood your concern about the NAV settings right.

Default seat belt chime

the above method also works on Ford cars and trucks. Made my neighbor happy when I disabled his chime on his truck

There is a hidden menu in the NAV system. I found it searching this forum.

I don't remember now the keys that made it work, but you held down two of the Nav units keys and got a hidden menu for the effort. I wasn't overwhelmed with it at the time, but it did work.

Maybe someone can chime in here with which two keys it is.

Press and hold the 'Menu' and 'Telephone' keys simultaneously, when the keypad screen appears release the keys, enter the code 917 and press the 'Enter' key on the screen.

Interesting. That wasn't the hidden screen I had seen. The process was the same, so I am thinking there must be various three number codes that give you access to other screens.

That's awesome! Are there any other unlock codes?

I was able to go in and find some interesting features and status info that was standard in the user menus of other cars I have had such as KPH/MPH, battery voltage, elevation, etc.

I Still have not found the original message, but I did find code 1971. At first it appears to be identical to 917, but there is an additional option that allows you do define what equipment is added to the NAV system. This is where you could tell it you added a phone or rear entertainment system.

There are more codes out there because neither of those show the menu I remember seeing.
