Trunk lid will not latch (lock). Alarm still works even though trunk is not latched. If unlocked lid is lifted, alarm goes off. Help!

 

Have you tried using the key in the lock which is underneath the boot lip (below chrome strip on boot lid).

This may or may not lock it but in either case you probably have a faulty boot lid motor and you will need to replace it.

 

I discovered the reason for the non-latching. Some Cretin backed into my trunk lid and the resultant dent has disabled the locking mechanism. I didn't notice the damage until much later. Off to the body and fender shop.
