Default Trunk Switch badge?

The button on the trunk on my 2005 VDP has seen better days. It has a frosted look to it. I found this on the Welsh Enterprises website:

What is involved with replacing the emblem? Was the originally back lit? Why does mine look so bad when the rest of that area on the car is perfect?

Thanks for the heads up. I had tried to order a replacement soft emblem through Jag 2 years ago and found that the entire push button assby. had to be ordered to access this part. Welsh filled the order today. Talk to Herky. He's got em on a shelf in back of his desk.

It will be a pleasure to replace that dirty old piece. Generally it costs a lot to be so persnickety, but not this time.

Got my new badge and replaced the old one today. Piece of cake, as we say.

Just for giggles, I cleaned the old one with lacquer thinner with good results. Not like the new one, mind you, but good enough if you are trying to get buy without spending $25. If you try to do this on the car be very careful about getting the lacquer thinner on the paint. You just never know how the paint will react.

Hey tarhealcracker,

How did you remove the old one and what did you use to secure the new one. I was just noticing tonight how bad mine looked.

I used a dental pick to hook the badge and gently pulled it off.
