Had a strange one the other day

Started the car up and could not get out of Park
Removed the key and tried again which then gave me the same result followed by Xmas tree lights

As I hadn't driven it for a few weeks suspected low battery so put it on charge
When I went back the next day it had escalated to no start as well

Checked the codes and had bunch of them but the key ones were P1638 and P1699.
Both CAN bus issues

After a number of attempts the car started up bu still now shifter operation.
Looking at the Engine Data all the engine parameters were fine.

Interesting bit was removing the key reset the xmas tree but it would return about 15 secs after powering up (not instantly as you would expect)
The other key was before the xmas tree Id get and orange warning and "gearbox failure"

Checking the Jgate noticed I had no indicator lights
A quick jiggle of the harness and it came back to life

Now everything was working including the shiftier but the sport button would not go on.
To fix this had to clear the codes and reset the key

Suspect the Jgate has a dry joint or corroded pin issue either way will deal with that once the new Jgate arrives

Also have been waiting to install my new hoist which went in last weekend
Have left the car on the hoist for now while I await a new Jgate.

Bigger fish to fry as lots of jobs have been awaiting the hoist
Oil Change (Done)
Trans Service (Oil, Pan, Sleeve ect)
Replacing the door actuators
Suspension refurb (bushings, ball joints ect)

Getting started on the suspension for now

Anyway though Id post the issue in case it crops up for someone else
Bottom line if the Jgate is not talking all hell breaks loose

I have been having the same issues.The car may start with no problems for days but occasionally when I start the car the engine is running but I get all the error codes and warning lights on and I can't shift out of park.Also the tach stays at 0.If restarting doesn't fix it-sometimes it does sometimes not I turn the car off and turn the key to the second position which allows me to shift from park to neutral.I can then start and drive the car a short distance turn it off and restart.So far when I do the last restart all error codes etc are gone ,it will shift out of park and drive normally.The check engine light usually is the only light on after this problem.The codes indicate the t ps problem so I am replacing the throttle body-just got the new one today.Hopefully that fixes the problem.

 

Depends on the codes if you have a TPS, Jgate or Earth issue

If its a TPS issue it wont effect the Park interlock, so unless you have multiple issues Id think the TPS is not your problem
In any case dont replace the throttle body just the TPS sensor.
The Throttle body is expensive and the Sensor is cheep, its the sensor that fails not the whole throttle body

I wanted to get an oe tps so that's why I got the whole throttle body from the dealer.The price for the complete throttle body has gone way down from what it used to be so it wasn't a big expense.
