Edit: Actually mine is GDM "Winter Gold Metallic", not sure how that relates to "Astral Gold Met"(GAA?) but looks the same in a photo.
The colors are pretty similar. I thing Astral was only used on the 09 Super V8 Portfolio, whereas Winter Gold was used on several other variants. In person, Astral Gold is almost more of a pewter/silver color in most lights whereas Winter Gold is more of a true gold.

Changed leaking cam covers on both sides. Chucked some spark plugs in for good measure.

Fixed a leak from the gearbox oil cooler pipe.

Ordered a sump and oil set while i was at it. Measured 3.5 litres removed. refilled with 5.25 litres !

Best way of removing the poxy t27 torx bolts was to hammer in a t30 impact bit and nurse off with a baby air gun.

Couldn't understand at first why could only put back in 3.litres till i read " zf transmission recommendations" from the " sticky section" (thanks very much)

Got a picture of the old (125k i recon )and new oil in the album.

Yesterday washed what looked like a clean car and then applied carnauba-based wax. It really shined-up nicely ready for a classic car show next Sunday. I just have to wash the wheels now !

Default No more hazy lights!

Decided to do some maintenance on my old foggy headlights today, what a difference. Started out scrubbing them down with some 99% iso alcohol then moved on to the wet sanding. 400 grit in swirls then horizontal lines, wiped down with paper towel then wet sanded in swirls and horizontal lines with 600 grit. Wiped down once more and followed the same procedure using 2000 grit. After a final alcohol wipe down they were ready for paint! Unfortunately I was a bit hasty with my first coat and the alcohol hadn't fully dissipated which caused crazing on my main light. I'm very pleased with the initial results and will continue on to the rest of the lights (including fogs) tomorrow.

More to come! Have to let dry for ~24h and then final wet sand with 3000 grit if I feel I need to. Main light needs redone totally however.. oh well! Experience is invaluable when it comes to these kinds of things. Super easy to do and makes the car really pop!

Nighthawk I did the headlights on my X-type 2 weeks ago using a Turtle Wax kit I bought at Autozone. Kit came with cleaner, various grit paper pads, and sealant wipe. they look almost new again. Well worth the hour or so spent on each pair of headlights. You mention "paint" - what is it you planning on using on them once your'e done polishing them? Clearcoat?

Not sure about headlights, but cuttable paints, 600~2000grit followed by BRASSO.

Here are my supplies! Piecemeal bought when I was browsing my local canadian tire for too long

I'm not sure of the composition of the plastics but the headlights seem to be much softer than the fog lights. Those things were HARD! The pitting was obviously not going to come out even with a good half hour sanding so I just went ahead and sprayed them anyways but WOW they look nice now (despite some interior damage to them it looks like). Never heard of BRASSO (info?), but my plan was to allow them a good 24h to dry and vent gases before the 3000 wet sand -> scratch x -> polish and eventual wax.

Took my time redoing the main headlight from yesterday due to crazing, with vastly improved results. The car is quite literally looking lopsided, which makes me want to test the effect on the light output at night to see how much is actually lost to nasty oxidation!

Thanks for the interest guys, any info or suggestions are greatly appreciated! I'll see about cleaning this up into a guide of sorts if there's any intetest or if it's needed on the forums once everything is done?

New here, so I have a big list.
10 days ago, washed and waxed Bagheera and changed the oil and filter, then we went on a 800 mi road trip. a week ago Bagheera went to the Dr. for a 4 wheel alignment and to have a few keys made and programed. Last Saturday (16th) early morning foam wash then off to British Field Day in SLC. This Saturday I will be installing new cross drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads and cleaning up and re-decal the calipers, then doing an interior detail and another foam wash.

Default Suspension

I replaced front upper control arms, front tie rods, rear stabilizer bar links, fuel filter and oil change. My car just reach 135k miles, I figure is time to replace those worn items to make it safe to drive.

New windshield installed (finally) and my Bosch Aero Twin wipers... Much lighter than the metal Trico OEM wipers.

My windshield wipers need a replacement and was wondering if Bosch Aerotwin A608S fits my vehicle (2008 Jaguar XJR) ? Where can I get them?

I did. But it says it doesn't fit 2008 Jaguar XJR.
