Default What Part is This?

Has been some time since posting on this forum and I am looking for help in identifying a part on my 2007 XJ8L. Does anyone know what the silver disk part is. I have been unable to find it on any fuel system diagrams.
Have replaced the Fuel Sensor but have noticed a very small drip of gas occasionally coming from here as well.
Thanks in Advance

Hi Mark,

that should be the fuel pressure regulator or damper, and I would say that it is part no. 12 in the diagram that you can see in the following link:

https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.../brand/jaguar/

Best regards,

Thomas

Unfortunately the part in the link is incorrect. Part number AJ83838 is the damper that goes on the fuel rail and not the part that is shown in the photo. Dealer here in my area claims it is a regulator of sorts but is discontinued from Jaguar and he does not know anything more about it.
If anyone else has any information, please let me know.

Could you remove the plasstic cover? Then you will see precisely where the rubber hose goes, and I believe that it will be the fuel rail. Jaguar calls it a damper, but it can also be called pressure regulator.

Here'show it looks on my supercharged car, but also the n/a cars have it:

Best regards,

Thomas

Hi Thomas,
Thanks again for your response.
Let me try to explain my confusion. I did remove my engine cover (see Photo) and mine is similar to yours.
The link that you sent me showing the diagram (see Photo) identifies the part #12 as AJ83838.
When you click on that part number it shows where the part goes (see photo) which is the bottom of each rail. There are two of these. This diagram shows them as item #9.
When looking up the part to purchase, the photo is not the part we are trying to identify (see photo and placement diagram from vendor). The part we are seeking is before the fuel rail and has hose connections at the bottom on both sides. I cannot find that one anywhere.
I had my fuel injectors rebuilt (much cheaper than buying new ones) and my mechanic did see the above dampers installed on the rail but he is also unable to identify this part in question.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the explanation and my apologies for creating the confusion! You are right, the part I mentioned seems not to be the correct one.

I have done some more research and I could not find the part in the Jaguar parts catalogue.

What I have found is these threads, maybe they can help:

Best regards,

Thomas

Thomas, thanks for the other links. It seems others have been just as puzzled as we have been concerning this elusive part.
I am hoping someone here sees this and has had to replace this part before and can direct me on where to get it.

I did some searches in JPART and like Thomas-S I also could not find that part. It's the main fuel supply to the engine and I can see the supply hoses but none of them show that silver disc. But the parts diagrams from Jaguar (Which do leave a lot to be desired) have the fuel supply hoses so not sure if the hoses shown contain that part or not. From what I have seen they do not.
Sorry for the lack of help.

Thanks for the response Clubairth1!
Hard to believe I cannot find this part anywhere. I have a noticeable fuel drip coming from the bottom of the disk now when the car is running so I am leaving it in the garage until I can locate a replacement/remedy. Hopefully someone here in the forum has faced this issue before.
Thanks Again!

I hope to see if someone can help us out. I have seen that silver disc on a ton of cars so it's a standard part on every NA engine.
If it's leaking too bad maybe cut it out and put a short section of hose in? Not a great suggestion for sure.

Te part is also present on the supercharged engines, not only the N/A ones. Unfortunately, apart from the number engraved on the top that seems to be a serial number, I could not find any other marking that could give us a clue.

Best regards,

Thomas

https://www.radiumauto.com/Fuel-Puls...Kits-P751.aspx

I found this with a quick search on "inline fuel pressure dampers". I don't know how much effect it has on engine operation, but you might try removing it an installing a connector or trying one of these aftermarket units if eliminating it causes issues. @Cambo might know if it's a vital component.

Thanks Luv2fly…..
I have actually confirmed the correct part number with SNG Barrett. It is C2C39408 and is called a Pipe Fuel. This part was discontinued by Jaguar so they have no ability to get one. He gave me a source on the West Coast for new and used parts but they informed me they have none available as well.
The search continues……..

Hi Mark,

thanks for the information!

This shows again how bad the Jaguar parts catalogue unfortunately is: not only is the part, same as with others, not listed separately, because Jaguar only sold it as part of a complete fuel pipe, you cannot even identify the related fuel pipe from the catalogue because the drawings do not show which part goes where, and the pressure regulator is not even shown.

Good luck with the hunting!

Best regards,

Thomas

Update…
I have been unsuccessful in locating even a used part. After some more searching of old posts, I evidently have not been the only one with this issue.
Luv2fly suggested removing the damper and I have confirmed with Xalty that this part is not really needed as there are 2 other fuel dampers in the fuel rail. Even if I were to find a used part, how long would it even last considering its age….
I will provide another update once the surgery is performed…

Yes years ago this came up on the S-Type forum. The guy finally just removed the dampers and soldered or welded the holes shut in the fuel rail.

@clubairth1 ,this particular damper is inline. I previously put a link to some aftermarket inline dampers that could be used if necessary. It is not on the rail as some of the parts drawings have shown. Easily dispensed with or replaced.

Yes sorry for the confusion. I was talking about the fuel rail dampeners and not the silver disc we still are trying to identify.
