Hi all - I have been through 3 after market suppliers of upper control arms for my 2004 XJ8 Vanden Plas (88000 miles) with the same results each time. Within a year and less than 10000 miles the ball joints in the front upper control arms start making "clunking noise" over small bumps and when turning into/out of parking spots. I have read that the Lemforder parts are the best replacement parts. However, I can't seem to locate a supplier other than Ebay. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Except for the air suspension system, LEMFÖRDER (Lemfoerder in English) is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of most or all of the suspension components on the Jaguar X350. Rock Auto carries a lot of Lemfoerder parts, though some of them are only listed in the sections for the S-Type or only for the Lincoln LS or Ford Thunderbird, perhaps because for some strange reason the Lemfoerder catalog doesn't mention that they also fit the Jaguar X350, even though they do.

You can look up Lemfoerder part numbers in these catalogs:

LEMFÖRDER Suspension Bushings Catalog Passenger Cars A-M

I believe that control arms that fit the Jaguar S-Type up to VIN M45254 or the Lincoln LS 3.9L V8 cars up to 2006 will fit your '04 VDP.

The Lemfoerder part number for the left upper control arm is 30633 01 and the part number for the right upper control arm is 30632 01.

Not only OEM for Jaguar, but Audi, BMW, and many others. With Audi it is assumed VW brands in general.

 

FCP Euro sells Lemforder....for the older Jags like mine, at least.

I like their blogs Doug but just did a quick search on upper control arms. $660 a piece. Yikes.

The prices are closer to earth for your beauties.
