Where is VIN frame number?
Rimmerbros says that VIN on frame is "riveted to the bulkhead of the engine compartment near to the vehicle battery" but I don't see it.

Here is a pic of my boot:
Have you a picture of where it is please?

I checked a 2004 and a 2005 X350 today and neither had a plate riveted in the trunk by the battery.
I checked the Jaguar Service Manual for the X350 and there is no mention of any VIN tag or stamping in the trunk or engine firewall. This manual covers all X350s for all markets--France was not specifically identified nor was it excluded.
I re-read the Rimmer write up and they do NOT say there is any plate riveted in the TRUNK--they mention the "BULKHEAD IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT only.
The picture they show of the TRUNK with the battery says "STAMPED IN BULKHEAD"
If you check the other Jaguar Vehicles in the RIMMER catalogue they show the same illustrations for S-Type, X-type etc.
I checked my S-Type and there is no plated or stamped VIN number by the battery or on the engine compartment firewall.
Not that it will help you, but the last embossed VIN I saw was stamped into the firewall of my 1993 Mazda RX7 Twin Turbo.
Good luck finding it!!!

1. the top seam in front of the battery (arrowed in red)
2. the side of the spare wheel well below the battery (arrowed in blue)
You may have to remove the battery clamp and/or the spare wheel to see it.

Hi christophe_autos,
I just checked the trunk/boot of our '04 X350 and can't find a VIN stamped there. I also checked the visible areas of the engine bay with no luck.
So I looked up the VIN locations in the 2004 New Model Introduction Dealer Training Manual that I was fortunate to purchase, and it shows the VIN located on a label affixed to the front left A-pillar inside the front door, on a bar code label on the B-pillar, and of course on the riveted VIN plate in the lower left corner of the windshield/screen. No mention is made of VIN stamps in any other location, but of course that doesn't mean there aren't such stamps elsewhere.
I have just confirmed that these labels exist on our '04. I hope the scan of the relevant page from the manual is properly attached to this message. If not, I'll try again.
I hope this helps!
Cheers,
Don

Hi, You Sir are a HERO!!!! I have spent half a day searching/chatting to the ????? unhelpful so called technical people at both Jaguar Land Rover HQ and my local dealer. Local dealer suggested they strip down my car (!!!!!?????) to obtain chassis number at vast cost to me - no way! Your post got me straight to the chassis VIN. I'm off to France for good and can now (hopefully) get my COC from JLR...... Thanks again for your advice.
