Who has the highest mileage XJ8?
No...wish I had the talent....I bought the car three years ago from a buddy who used the local dealer (Ft Worth) for all regular maintenance....It had about 225K (mostly highway) miles when I bought it. Other than a couple of tires, a leaky A/C seal, and a trunk actuator, I have had no major problems until about three weeks ago. Just had the air suspension (all four) replaced with the Arnott springs. Rear passenger had failed (Air Suspension Fault/Car Too Low) so I replaced them all. Used a local mechanic (formerly of a dealership). He also did the A/C.
Our 04 XJ8 has 192,000 miles. We purchased it new and after the warranty expired I've done all repairs and maintenance except for replacement of the air suspension compressor that failed soon after the warranty expired. The most common problem I've had were coolant leaks.
Would appreciate any advice on my possible purchase of what seems to be an especially good condition XJ8 2004.
My old 280c Mercedes I sold at 200,000.
My current Odyssey is solid and quick at 300,000 miles.
Am I misplacing confidence in my good luck of the past in the XJ8?
Thanks All !

I would never trade my X358 in. I guarantee you that it will be a classic and still turn heads for years to come. What other car on the road will be a real upgrade? Other than some tech features; our cars are king of the hill.
You're absolutely correct! Walking back to my car from the grocery store today and fell in love all over again!!! I'm keeping her as long as possible!
just bought mine a few weeks ago. 04 Vanden Plas had 179000 plus and I added about 3600 recently on a trip. Only issues is it didn't like like the real cold weather. Otherwise it's just fine.
I am at 90k now... Do forum members think of 200k as realistic target? 175k? 150k?
And I plan on doing all maintenance and suspension problems will not make me "get rid" of it. I have a separate budget for that
I just don't want random stuff failing every 3 months with $500-1000 repairs.

I'm a new owner, but these are well-engineered cars - there is no reason they won't run a long, long time. But as the forums show, there are issues that can nickel-and-dime an owner into the poor house, I suppose. My car has 93K, hoping to put about 8000 miles a year on it and have it quite awhile.
I've got about 133K on it right now because my commute is 92 miles one way. I'm averaging about 27 mpg overall because DC traffic during rush hour is horrendous. I don't mind the drive because the Jag is a really nice commuter car. It's comfortable, has good performance and is fairly good on gas overall.
Jaguar Enthusiasts Club magazine for March had a piece in the X350 section from an owner who had just bought an X350 on 450,000 miles !! He didn't pay very much, but the pics of the car showed it looked very good.
I have logged nearly 90,000 miles thus far with my 2005 XJ8L. Two weeks ago, my blower motor suddenly quit so I'm waiting for a little warmer weather to service it. Other than that, there are a couple of trivial items that may merit my attention.
