Add me to the list of hi-miler wannabees. I'm looking at a supercharged 05 with 125 on it, 2 owners but at a small dealer now. Was a CPO car and then had a contract until about 100k with the only records being the vague service contract, 'suspension serviced,' etc.

Question: should I be concerned about major items wearing out, blower, rear, trans etc? I think she was cared for regularly but those that know are not telling.

I would be curious as to why the second owner parted with it, but you're not likely to get much information from the dealer in that regard. Like all used vehicles, it's always buyer beware. Moreover, be aware of the fact that trading vehicles in to the dealer is a convenient way of laundering those with expensive service issues. If it were me, I would certainly test drive the vehicle at the very least, and then proceed to check out every single control and function. If the car has a lingering suspension problem, that can be a killer as this could involve expensive repairs. This is my two cents (for what it's worth).

And the voice of prudence. And, the car's on fleabay in TN so little to no chance to preview-a new dealer making a name for himself and 100% so far but not worth the risk. Another Super passing in the night. There is another one at a local BM dealer, 91k but $6k more. Some day my princess will come...

As of this morning, my White Cat has 153,657 miles. That will increase when I test my coil spring conversion within the next week or two.

195,000 and counting, driven it since new in 2004. Still running well, still air suspension, needs a rack now but still decent

Default 98 XJ8

Bought mine used. Now have around 178,000 miles. Did have some work done on the car especially the tensioners. ABS controller replaced. Some minor rust/paint issues. Upgraded to the aluminum thermostat housing. Upper control arm replaced as well as front shocks. Car is now having rear brakes fixed. And ongoing issue with the headlight switch. Oh, the mechanic did do valve cover gaskets and plugs as well.

Impressive mileages on your X308's but this is the X350 forum for the later model XJ8.

Blame Jaguar. They did the same with the XJ6 using the same name over four different models!

Default 2004 XJ8

Hi there,
My XJ8 has for the moment 250000 km = 156250 miles. Parts I replaced are the following: rotors and pads, spark plugs, a leaking injector, electronic parking brake actuator, resonator, conversion from air suspension to conventional strut suspension. changed the fluids and battery, electronic latch in the trunk. The car is running fine and I use it as my daily driver in Ontario Canada all year around. My goal is to put as much mileage on as possible.

Traded my 2003 (UK) X350 3.5SE three years ago with 204000 miles on it, it was traded for the 2004 Super V8 with 113000 miles on it, that car now has 173000 on it.

We put over 230,000 miles on our 04. Daughter has it now at school and still going strong. Car has earned a place in car heaven.

Purchased a 2005 XJ8L about 8 months ago with 114000 on it. Dealer stated that the only they did was replaced one front shock. Now have 130000 on it with no trouble. Have changed the oil, that's about it. Drives tight. 25 mpg avg. Sweetest ride I have ever had. Will replace plugs at first opportunity and wondering about tranny fluid as I don't know the cars history but a little apprehensive. Driving good at the moment.

Forgot about three other small items. Replaced a license tag light assembly, replace front passenger fender running light and replaced low beam headlight bulbs. From all I researched and the few miles I've been blessed to enjoy, the 2005 XJ8L is a champion of design and elegance.
