I have a 2008 XJ. Out of the blue and for no apparent reason, my windows do not work. I looked at some other posts about this same problem, so I disconnected my battery for about 30 minutes to reset everything, but the windows still don't work. I don't know if they are related, but also my door locks don't function properly either. Just to let you know, my key fob hasn't been working correctly either, I could lock the doors using it, but could not unlock them with the fob, I just figured that the button to unlock it was worn out, so for the past several months I would just unlock it by using the door lock and had no problems and didn't get around to getting a new fob. Two other things that are not normal and may be related to this is the doors used to automatically lock when I put the car in drive, and I noticed that they don't now, and also when I would put the key into the door to unlock it the lights on the mirror and I think all to the lights used to blink and I notice that that doesn't happen anymore. Does anyone have any ideas?

 

This sounds like an issue with the Drivers Door Module (DDM). What I would do is:
1. Fully charge your battery
2. Remove the battery cables and short them together to drain any residual current stored in capacitors.
3. Reconnect the battery cables

You may be lucky and things should start working again.

Other than that a high end scan tool or if you have access to IDS/SDD will tell you if there are any codes associated with the DDM.
