Default Wipers that fit-for cheap!

Not words you often hear with a jag part

I saw that rock auto was having a close out sale on wiper blades so I did an experiment. I've also been annoyed that my local auto parts stores have mostly stopped carrying refills (if you're not aware, the issue is that the washer nozzles mount on the blade body, so you have use the stock ones with refills, or go to the dealer for ones that will fit the washer bodies on).

I ordered 3 different sets of blades that rock had listed.

I'm reporting back that the Trico blades (listed as private label wholesaler closeout) fit the washer nozzle mounts like a T. I could have made the one of the others work, but these fit right.

Best part? The whole body and blade are $3.49 each for the passenger 19" and $3.53 for the driver 24'". They are NAPA branded, and promoted as 'teflon' blades I believe. (threw the boxes out).
You do have to pay shipping, but for $7-10 s/h it's still a bargain. I'm going to reorder and stock up. I think just the blade refills are often $7+.

TRICO Part # 15240 is the 24"
TRICO Part # 15190 is the 19"

their website is a bit hard to navigate, but you can plug those in or search via your car model (it gives a huge list of available blades which is a bit overwhelming.

RockAuto Parts Catalog

That was my first order, but I've seen them with positive reviews for years on other enthusiast forums - mostly for having great prices. They are a sponsor here too.

Hope it helps somebody else out.

Nice one Ross and Yes RockAuto are a forum sponsor here.

They have a discount available for forum members too.

my jag-packaged genuine wiper blades are marked Trico, so I wondered if there would be a Trico part available without the extra cost of the Jag name on the packaging.

Thanks for the p/nos!

p.s.
the jag ones don't look like teflon.

When I first got my X350, it had the standard blades on it, but I fancied aqua blades (which I had on my Volvo S60).
Now it just so happened that I still had the Volvo, so I simply swapped wiper blades. The Volvo blades are slightly longer, but still fit and the washer jet simply clips on, so I swapped that over too..

These refills worked for me:
Amazon.com: Anco N-24R Wiper Blade Refill: Automotive Amazon.com: Anco N-24R Wiper Blade Refill: Automotive
and
Amazon.com: Anco N-19R Wiper Blade Refill: Automotive Amazon.com: Anco N-19R Wiper Blade Refill: Automotive
Each package has 2 refills and I have Amazon prime, so shipping was free.

I tried the Anco N19/N24 refills... they lasted about 3 wipes and they were streaking and noisy.

I was shocked that one of the best values on this car were OEM wiper blades. $20 a piece and you get the entire wiper blade/washer jet/air deflector assembly. And they wipe silently and cleanly!

I did take your recommendation and order the referenced blades. I received today and for the life of me I can't figure out how you installed them. It appears to me that the channel width to slide the car' blade hook with the washer attached won't go. Perhaps I have the washer part on weird. I have some pics to explain if that helps.

Hmm, it's hard to visualize. You do need to move the clip for the washer sprayer over to the new body.
At first I didn't think that they fit, but you can put the whole blade on while on the car, I thought there wasn't enough room and I was going to have to raise the hood, but a little fiddling and it snapped right in.

Yes, post a picture if you can.

Here is my existing aftermarket wiper blades (which are not a secure fit), They are RainX and the width of the blade holder is almost 1/2". So as you might be able to tell in the photos, I have the wiper hook and washer spray connected together and the entire hook end slides into the 1/2" bracket on those RainX units.

The new ones only have a blade holder width of 3/8" which is perfect for a standard hook end but if the sprayer is added then there is no way to slide together. I am thinking you mounted the sprayer seperate from the hook end, which is perhaps the different in our two setups.

I cant remember the factory setup, so I probably need some guidance on how it all fits.

Hmm, mine fit just fine with the sprayer - I'll have to go out tomorrow and investigate!

Has anyone tried to fit the one piece Bosch blades aero bladesBosch - Aerotwin Wiper Blades

I used them on my last to cars they last longer than metal framed blades and no chatter or squealing especially here

I live in Australia dry winters hot summers and usually a big wet season so by the time you want to use them they are usually they squeal and chatter and don't do a great job where as the Bosch aero ones have been on there 2 years already and still work really well

I was planning to change the blades on the XJ to these until reading this post looks like it is not a straight forward install

Has anyone fitted these
Rain-X Repel Premium Bracketless Wiper Blade, 19" (Pack of 1) : Amazon.com : Automotive Rain-X Repel Premium Bracketless Wiper Blade, 19" (Pack of 1) : Amazon.com : Automotive
to their X350 XJ

FWIW, AutoZone still sells two-to-a-pack refills that fit our XJs, and they're inexpensive.

Well it's 49 degrees here, so I've not ventured out. My Autozone does not sell the refills anymore, neither does NAPA or Advanced Auto here - one manager told me they were fazing them out.

@Doc - the blades I currently have on my XJ8 are made by RainX. I am not 100% which model they are. Just make sure the connector is wide enough to get hook and sprayer to slide in.

Hi Anjtpa,

I just went out and measured mine, and the plot thickens - my brackets on the new blades appear to be 1/2" wide (?). I did see that the plastic hook (with the windshield nozzle mounted on it) has a Trico brand label on it. I was under the impression that these were stock jaguar, but maybe these are aftermarket?

I wonder if you go sent the wrong blades or something? I just noticed that on my second batch order, one of them is the box is wrong! (it's a winter blade). part number is right on the box, but it's not the right blade inside (maybe why NAPA dumped them?)
Maybe an email to rock auto to see if they can check or send new ones?

I tried two other aero blades, one bosch, that were listed by my local auto parts as 'fitting' the car, but they will not fit with the washer mount.

the blades from Jag sources, with the jag packaging, are stamped Trico.

yeah, I double checked the order and the part numbers you quoted was what I ordered. On their website they are listed under Jaguar. But clearly they are not wide enough.

Oh well, I could send back, but then I would be paying shipping, so not sure its worth the effort.

The width on the blade that allows the hook and sprayer nozzle has to be 1/2" for sure, or its not going to fit properly. Unless you source from Jaguar, I would recommend heading to local auto parts store and examining the connector before buying.

I will still call Rockauto to see what my options are.

Agreed, they are so cheap, not worth the effort to return. Let me know what rock auto says, I think either they sent you the wrong ones (misboxed) or you have a different connector (?).
If they're too much pain, PM me your address and I'll mail you a pair of my stash to try out, for community purposes; I'd like to know what the fit issue is.

I bought some of these for my 2005 and they fit perfectly, I have a few more pairs and will check them to see if there are any oddballs in the lot.
