Default X350 Boot lock actuator removal

Hi Guys,
I need to replace the boot lock actuator on my x350 but I'm blowed if I can figure out how that black plastic cover over the business end comes off! I've tried prizing it off but do not want to use any more force on it incase I damage something! Obviously there is a special trick (or tool!?) Involved here, I have the new(2nd hand) actuator but gave up on the job months ago due to frustration!😰😆 Anyone out there in Jagland with experience of this?? I'm getting really fed up with the red light on the dash telling me the boot is open 😆 and having to use the key to unlock it! This is the last gasp before I take it to a Jag professional (2hrs away) and pay them hundreds of Bux to sort it out, I will be eternally grateful for any info, Cheers Guys and a Very Merry Yuletide!😊

I used a 1 inch "putty knife" to pry the outer (bottom?) lip of the black surround off. I first slipped a knife blade under the outer edge and then realized one of my dry wall knives would work better. I also used a file to remove a small portion of the edge off so that it was easier to "pop" the cover off and on while I was testing everything before I buttoned it up for good. Only a small portion needs to be removed and you cannot tell after everything is put back together. The hand "cups" in the lid come off by pressing in on the sides. Prying them down from the top or bottom will allow them to come off but will break off the tabs located on the sides. I found out the hard way. Good luck, this seems to be a common issue.
