Default X350 location of Cruise control sendor on car.

Just a quck questiin.

Anyone know where the Electronic Cruise Control Sensor is on the X350.

Is it
1 Under front bumper skin on left hand side near fog lamp.
2 Under dash on left.

Note the XK sensor is in middle of car behind front grill.

But Jaguar and Landrover in their wisdom have moved this sensor around on different cars.

Thanks

Does your car have the adaptive cruise control (ACC), or the normal one?

In the first case, the control mdule that also contains the radar unit (I believe that is the "Electronic Cruise Control Sensor" you refer to), is mounted on the left hand side behind the bumper. It can be accessed by removing the cover in the bumper next to the fog lamp, which can be unclipped.

If the car has the normal cruise control, I believe that this unit will not be there, as the normal cruise control just needs a signal from the speedometer to maintain the speed.

Best regards,

Thomas

I have tried to find my Jags cruise control module. Car is Jaguar Sovereign X350 4.2 2007. So essentually a XJ8 or XJ.

You mention that the "normal" car does necessarily have the module inder bumper bar on LS. I took my front bumper plastic off. No sign of 1 Oblong module with its black plastic face and pitted aluminium case or slanting bracket. 2 no sign of a connector near LS near fog light plastic

so if my car has no radar module it cannot alter the cruise speed when encountering slower moving vehicles ahead Correct?

Any comments please

What is the pointed looking device in the first pic used for. Is it anything to do with the cruise control. Looks like a sensor of some kind.

Hi Ken,

I said that the "normal" cruise control does NOT have the module behind the bumper. As your car does not have it, it has the "normal" cruise control.

Yes, your assumption is correct. The cruise control on your car just maintains the speed set, nothing else.

Please refer to your other post where you ask about the temperature sensor, I have posted some further information there.

Best regards,

Thomas

Hi folks

Si my x350 does not have full cruise control unlike XJjRs. Thete is no radar moddule on car under front bumper. X350 termed "normal" and simply monitors speedometer. Cannot alter speed when approaching slower vehicles say in fog. Does have a toggle button on RH of steering wheel. I recall RH has a set, pause and cancel buttons. Don't recall a toggle.

Question Can you fit a ACC module to a X350 retrospectively at all. Anyone tried.?

Would need to add connection into loom.
Thanks for commenting on this interesting subject. Ironic of buy a newer car they have ruise control.
thanks

Also a nice side-effect of having the ACC was the Forward Collision Warning feature:

The forward collision warner is always switched off on my car, I don't like it...

Best regards,

Hi Ken,
When the X350 came on the market, cruise control was failry standard already, also on "lower class" cars, but ACC definitely was not.

Nowadays, something like ACC is almost mandatory with this hype of assistance systems that exists in legislation and the car manufacturers.

Coming back to your question regarding retrofitting ACC, it might be possible, but also expensive and difficult, already for finding the parts needed, and I doubt that it would make sense.
You would need the radar module, the switch units for the steering wheel and the forward collision warner, the wiring loom(s), and maybe another instrument cluster.
Regarding the wiring, I do not know whether it is an additional loom that can simply be added, or whether Jaguar had different looms according to the specification of the car. If it is not an additional one, then it really gets complicated to retrofit something like the ACC, as you will have to remove the original loom and replace it with the one that has the necessary connections.
Furthermore, you will have to use SDD to make the car recognize the ACC.

Best regards,

Thomas
