Default XJ Sport Wheel and Tyre Size

Hello,

Firstly my apologies if this has been asked a million times in the history of the forum but I couldn't find a good answer on the web or through the search on the Forum so I thought the best thing was to ask, so here goes.

I have just purchased a 2003 XJ Sport, it has aftermarket 20" wheels on it, which are awful. I would like to go back to OEM wheels but I can not figure out if mine should be 16 or 18' rims. 2003 seems to be a change over model year which saw the out going model on 16's and the new model on 18's.

I prefer the OEM 18's. Am I OK to put 18's on it? I assume the model change was a mere facelift and so 18's are fine as Jag went to 18's?

Also I assume the best tyre size options for 18's is the OEM 235/50/18's

I appreciate the guidance, I would like to put my Jag back to OEM but selecting the best bits.

Standard size for X350s was indeed 235/50/18.
Earlier XJs than 2003 were X308s and had smaller wheels (17" in standard I think).

Paydase thanks. I have a 308, I have looked around and 18's seem ok. Is there any reason they would not be ok?

18" will certainly fit on X308s. The X308 XJRs had that as standard size. You just need to check the offset of the wheels to be within specs or procure X308 XJR wheels. Good hunt!

There was an optional extra of 17" wheels on the X350, around '03/'04; they were intended for use with Winter tyres I believe.

Otherwise the only OEM options are 18"x8, 19"x8½ and 20"x8½

I purchased (ebay) one used set of these 17" wheels for the winter tyres of my X350. Very convenient. I think they can also be still purchased new but rather expensive.
I understand though that HSwift is looking for X308 wheels that may have a different offset.

In the US for the first year 17" wheels were the standard wheel on the XJ8

XK8/XKR wheels, 1997-2006 will also fit your x308 directly...we've seen lots of examples around here. That may give you more options, and still keep the car 'OEM', so to speak. Don't go with the staggered sets though, obviously.
