Default XJ X350 2.7 Rear engine oil leak??

All,

I could do with your help on a technical matter. Just serviced my 08 XJ with genuine Jag parts - no problem but noticed an oil leak. This has resulted in a fumy smell just after warm up or at traffic lights.

Upon closer inspection the oil is getting onto one of the turbos. ( Looking into the engine bat towards the rear of the car - Right hand Bank)

Without removing all the plastic cowlings around the rear of the engine bay it's quite difficult to see where the oil is tracking from.

There is a plastic guard for the drive to the fuel pumps and it might be coming from behind here (I assume there is a seal on a drive shaft) or one of the feed pipes to the turbo. It's definitely engine oil and not fuel.

Has anyone else had experience of having a leak around this area? What did you replace? Car has done 50k miles.

Incidentally I'd be able to see a lot better if I could get the windscreen arms off and take off the top cowling and ducting. Don't want to get too aggressive with these, any tips.

Cheers Rich

I can't help with the oil leak but windscreen wipers are not difficult to remove.

lever off the domed plastic cover at the base and remove nut on spigot.

Pull wiper arm up and down gently to slacken it on the spigot and then pull at the base of the arm to remove.

Do not over tighten when replacing nut.

Now that large plastic cover in that area will come off, it clips in at the base of the glass windscreen.

Start at one end and try to pull it out.You have to pull at the right angle and once it has started it will all come out.

(you may need to get a little bit aggressive with it)

Clean area of dirt before replacing and it will clip back in.
