Does anyone know where fuel filter is? Could this be a cause?? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Frank, you'll be better off posting this in the XJ40 forum, (your car). This forum is for the X350 series from 2003, which are completely different cars.

Steve, I think by the fact he has "changed all the coils" indicates its an X300 AJ16, as 1995 should be, mmm.

Hate to mess him around, but XJ40 only has one coil from memory??.

Frank,

The fuel filter is inboard of the LHR wheel. Remove the LHR wheel, car supported correctly of course, and follow the driveshaft towards the centre of the car, and about half way, under a steel strap, bolted to the body of the car, is the fuel filter.

The TPS (throttle position sensor) under the throttle body, may be having issues now. They do fill up with oil that runs down the throttle shaft. Most survive a good clean with p/pack solvent, such as carby cleaner, contact cleaner, etc.

Just to clarify, your car is what is known as an X300 XJ6. It has 6 coils, and NO spark plug leads. The engine is what is known as teh AJ16 version.

Steveinfrance will move this again to the X300 area as soon as he catches his breath.

frank:
No, you should not, unless you have tested it and have reason to think it is bad. The procedure to calibrate a new sensor involves the deale rlevel software (it has no adjustment slots), although, if you measure the old one's wiper voltage at idle, some claim you can set the new one to the same voltage by elongating the slots.

And, they ain't cheap!

BTW, I have no idea how this appeared before your post that it answers!!!

Thank you Gentlemen. Yes six coils on top of the spark plugs

I will check the fuel filter. I cleaned the throttle position sensor Should I just change it for safe measure ?

Very best

My XJR '95 was severely messed up. Transmission failues, high idle aso. Replaced the TPS and even though the old TPS measures sorta fine, that did the trick. No issues since But the TPS doesn't come cheap. I paid something like US $300, just for the part. I decided against cheaper 3. party replacements, because if it didn't fix the issue, how would I know if the TPS still wasn't to blame?

Frank, since your thread seems to have finally roosted - Ross you haven't got the Evil Eye, there's summat funny with the JF clock.
If you put a digital voltmeter between TPS wiper and ground you should see a steadily increasing voltage with no hiccups as you open the throttle.
The TPS needs to be connected + ignition on to do this.
If you can post the fully closed + fully open voltage that would help.

I sure wish tehre was an easy way to read the fule pressure on an X-300!

frank, do you have a CEL, and have you read the codes?

Hi gentlemen. I greatly appreciate your help in advice to get my Jaguar running
I drove the Jaguar to auto parts to buy a fuel filter
Because regardless I needed to change it. Came out to the car and it wouldn't start No cranking at all remember I added a new ground to motor and thought I solved my bad ground problem on starter.
Eventually got car back to house.
Now it cranks but won't start. Just turns. But no start
Codes says camshaft position sensor error.

I am also getting a transmission light on dash with x thru it. And a beeping from the transmission computer.

I will check throttle position sensor with voltmeter

Could you now be suffering from low battery voltage? All the errors suddenly occuring sounds suspicious.
