1996 XJ6 3.2 X300 driver non-memory seat adjustment issue
Hi, I have an issue with my 1996 XJ6 3.2 X300. The driver seat is non-memory and the height adjustment is not working properly. I've had the seat out and, although the motor and gearbox appear to be working, they stop and click after a few 'cogs' have been moved. The seat moves a very small distance before stopping. It will return to it's original position but that is the sum of the movement. The cable linking the motor to the rear gearbox seems correctly seated in the motor and makes a bit of an involuntary twist as though something is jammed when the movement reaches it's limit. It appears to me that the non gearbox side of the seat i.e rear left as you face the steering wheel, is not moving as much (hardly at all) as the side with the gearbox and cogs but I can see nothing to block this and have lubricated both sides with zero effect.
Would anyone have any ideas as to the cause and possible solution?
Many thanks in advance.
