Hello everyone I am new to the Jag world, I just bought my 1996 jaguar xj6 for $1500 and so fat put about $500 into it, I have learned parts are VERY expensive but I have fixed everything that was on my list except for one thing.... the AC does not work. The previous owner told me it just needed to be charged, first does anyone know the ac specs?? second i put one 10 oz can in it but really nothing happened. The compressor is kicking on but i am at a loss for now and really dont want to put that much money into it any suggestions??

 

I just fixed my '95 XJ6 AC and I put 2 cans (340 g/can - I think each can was 12 ounces in weight) and it gets pretty cold. I don't have the specs for the quantity though. I used R-134a. The fact that the compressor clutch is engaging is a good sign. I don't think it would do that unless there was a minimum pressure in the system. It seems like if you put one more can in you should see some kind of result in terms of it getting cold. The problem that I had was a hole in the condenser.
