1997 X300 boot lock

Hi chaps

The electronic boot open button has failed on my 1997 x300 (ie thebutton on the bootlid itself). The other boot release button on the dashboard within the cabin has also stopped working at the same time. I can open the boot manually using the key, but would like the switches working again. Does anyone know the likely problem/solution?? I presume the button switch is the obvious answer, however would this also cause the dashboard switch to fail??? Any advice most welcome

I forgot about X300's system but considering both buttons stopped working gave me an idea that your security system might be causing this too . I mean your car should have a button somewhere that switches security on and off just like XJ40 does into the armrest

Yes, on my '95 there is a "valet" switch in the console cubby. I've never used it but I think it does indeed inhibit the electric boot lock functions.

If not that, look at the wiring at the boot hinge(s). I've heard that it a break over time.

update

fault traced to the problematic boot hinge wiring. Wire for boot lock system had severed - easy repair with soldering iron and wire!

hello! I have te same exact problem as you. I have checked the wiring, relays and fuses and couldnt find anything! The only thing I noticed was that with the voltage power reader is that I am not getting any power from the yellow/orange wire that connects to the actualator into the relay, but I cannot find out why!! Does anyone know? Thanks.
