Hi youngoxjr,

Based on your first two posts in this thread I thought you were working on a 1995 Vanden Plas, but I see now that you are actually working on a 1997 XJR. Sorry for my confusion. Always a good idea to add detailed info about your car(s) to your signature, and since you have two Jags, to make clear which one you are inquiring about in each thread you start on the forum. I'm afraid the info I posted above was relevant to a normally-aspirated VDP but may not be relevant to an XJR.

Cheers,

Don

Thanks Graham

The codes do differ I see. I removed the TCM for inspection. It looks and smells fine , no burned circuits or chips. I believe I'm gonna get up under her one more time to see if the harness is good all the way up. The tranny mount seems to be worn. Wondering if wn that stopped u fuel filter had her bucking if that damaged the lower harness. I read that n another post. DO I have to remove that bracket to access the harness conn on the tranny?

An update is I dont have a fob .So everything I do is w the keys {green and black}. When I set the alarm the car only beeps once. Usually its the beep then a hi pitched chirp to follow. Now just the one beep. Also if I turn the igntion on and manually trip the starter the motor doesnt start it only turns over.
Your alarm should only beep once to signal the car is locked. if the beep is followed by a chirp, that is to indicate a door or boot lid is not properly shut.

It's been a while since I had my X300 but as far as I can recall the harness connector is accessible without removing the bracket.

youngoxjr,

Since you have raised multiple malfunctions in both of your threads, it has become confusing to keep track. I am going to merge your threads Trying to Find an Answer and XJR Won't Turn Over. I will rename the thread 1997 XJR Won't Turn Over and Limp Home Mode so members who may have relevant advice to offer will know the areas of your malfunctions.

See my earlier post about transmission diagnostics with links to photos.

Cheers,

Don

Don B, GGG, And Elithrift. LOtta thanks on ur info posted. never knew that on the alarm. My VDP always beep twice .I thought it was normal for bout 8 yrs. Havent got a chance to get tryn some things on that xjr tranny today. But will make up for it this weekend. Looks like that sc has to be removed to get to the tps. Its down there pretty good. I've got plenty of tools and a genuine DYI knack for my vehicles. Let yall know how it works out for ME.

Well fellas it looks like a trip to the local dealership is necessary in this case. I for sure havent been to one since my 2000 c5 convertible went down and they charged me $798 for a faulty TAC. They never got he problem solved but I signed into the corette forum and found out a had a dead valve lifter. Fixed it myself for $12.98. The cost of a new hyd lifter. Torque down procedure and all rite online . If there's any last advice on my 97 XJR pls reply before i go to the ***********
