I have called around the US today looking for used OEM coils for my 1997 XJ6. I found a salvage yard in Mobile, Alabama. He has 3 OEM looking coils, as he sent me 3 pics of the Lucas coils, with Made in Japan stickers also.

I paid $29 new from eBay. They work great!

 

The eBay ones work great in the beginning they just don't work great for long. I got 8 months out of 6 I bought for my LS and my neighbor got 6 months out of an eBay set for their Navigator.

 

so far it these have last me well over a year n half

i just got 2 more since i only replaced 4 out of 6!!

they are in PERFECT condition since i installed them. boots look like brand new still

What kind of warranty did you get with the coils and have they lasted long? and still running good for ya?

 

So is there a definitive on what and where to buy replacement coils? I replaced all of mine about 18 months ago and now have 3 bad. Has anyone ever used coils made by Legacy? Motorcars Ltd. has those.

 

Idk what warranty is.
But they work just prefect been about 18months give or take. Still working and still look new.

Car is my daily driver 100+ miles some days

Has anyone tried these coils? Says they're made in Germany, epoxy made in Japan. So is that sorta almost maybe made in Japan? Germany made, quality could be pretty good. I dunno.

Yes. What I got out of it was that Made in Japan is good, Made in China not good. The distributor (SNG Barrett) that posted their link is currently out of Made in Japan coils (per email) and is working with the manufacturer to hopefully get them back in stock in a couple of months. Parts Geek has Eurospares and Motorcars.ltd line is made in Europe, they said.

 

Hello, I do not know if you are still looking for coils, but I just bought and received Japan coils from Japthug. PM Japthug and see if he is still selling anymore. These seem to be the original "Made in Japan" coils.

Every interchange listing I have seen says they are Jaguar only.
