My leather gear shift surround doesn’t seem to want to stay in place. Is this intended to snap in place? Thanks.

 

There are plastic ears that snap fit attach below

These ears break easily and is an idea for 3D printing repair

 

every plastic clip on every piece breaks so easy now the cars are almost 30 years old.

my surround does not stay down also due to broken clips, i have broken/missing clips on a few pieces here and there.

jbweld/araldite becomes your friend if you take parts apart.
3d printer would be nice to have.
