95 xj6, cranks but doesn't start
I have a 1995 XJ6 with about 163,000 miles that has never had any major problems since it was purchased; I'm also new to to this forum. The car has been running fine but about two days ago I went to start the car, and it was cranking but would not start (it was pretty low on gas that day so I went and put some more in it, but had the same problem). On one occasion it did start for about a few seconds, then the engine cut off. Since then, every attempt results in just cranking, and not starting. I have heard various reasons for this, such as fuel filter/pump, crank sensor, etc. Would anyone have any insight as to how to troubleshoot this or which possible component could have failed? Thanks.

Check the fuse for the fuel pump. Also turn the key on and have someone listen at the back of the car for the fuel pump working briefly. I think it shuts off after pressure is built up. I don't have a XJ6 anymore but maybe someone can tell you if there is a valve on the fuel rail to check fuel flow.

This is exactly the same problem i'm having with my xj6. I know I have spark...i detached the fuel line at the fuel filter and when i turned the key to the first position (before cranking) fuel flowed freely through the filter....I checked the fuel pump fuse and the fuel inertia cutoff switch....so i'm kind of in limbo now...not sure what to do next.
