Default 96 XJ6/300 Fuel Pump question....

hello, can anyone tell me how often you are supposed to replace a fuel pump... and also, how hard is it to get to in a x300, what would be the labor time... thanks.

They are only replaced after failure. Mine has 125K miles on it, so they can last a long time, depending on how you treat them. If you run the car with less than 1/4 tank, it will cut the life substantially as the pump is lubricated and cooled with fuel. If you are pretty good with tools, you can change the pump at home in a half day. You must pull the fuel tank after releasing the fuel lines above the differential, the pump is inside the tank.

You appear to be a novice at auto repair. Suggest you get a manual of sorts for you car. You can purchase a Haynes manual that covers Jaguar up to 94, a lot of things will be the same. Also you can get a subscription to alldatadiy.com for $29, $16 renewal. I believe there are also CD manuals available. Check Google. I also believe there is information available on this site, called JTIS. Another member might chime in.
