Default 97 xj6 shock absorbers

I was told i need 4 new shock absorbers. I was quoted 75$ a piece, but im wondering if i can do the labor myself in my driveway. Are there any specialty tools or suggestions about schock removal clearance? Thanks

Fronts are simple enough.

Rears are going to test your skills a tad. Look in the archives/FAQ and there are many, many posts re the rears. NOT a nice job in anyones book.

Default Shocks

After careful consideration and a lot of shopping around i decedid to order Bilstein. i found the touring shocks for 82.99 which was the least expensive i have seen. The cheapest i found monroes for were 57.00 so after reading i ordered the bilsteins. Are these a good shocks to go with or am i throwing my money away.

Bilsteins are great shocks To be sure they are expensive... I don't do the type of driving where I can justify the price of Bilsteins and will be trying the Monroes shortly.
