Thumbs down ABS Issues

My ABS light flickers on and off CONSTANTLY and it starting to annoy me. It worked o.k. in the winter luckily although sometimes it would cut out when I needed it most I read on a different site that the ABS Actuator is a common problem on these vehicles, do you think that may be the case with me? How much do these usually run for, I couldn't really find a price for them anywhere it was always some assembly...

Don't do anythng 'till you've removed the conector at the abs unit and cleaned the contacts.

Cheers

black tape on the I pack, the cost will total your car from the dealer. Mine comes on every 4-6 months for a day then back off. Im not worried about it as abs works fine except when the light is on.

Thanks for the info guys.
Doug, would you be kind enough to point out where exactly the abs unit is?
BRUTAL, what is the "I" pack and by totalling my car at the dealer you mean the price would be over 3k!?!?

Brutal-
"engine compartment in front of the left front tire wheel well."
This is a X300, I think. Mine is near the firewall on the left, unlike the X308.

even rebuilt ones are ridiculously espensive

its easier to drift without ABS ;]

Yea I personally don't like it too much either...I can pump the brakes myself, I'm just tired of seeing the light.

I don't even see mine anymore, it's been illuminated for so long.

if you're feeling zesty you can take out the gauge cluster & remove the lightbulb for the ABS light

I am getting ready to begin working on my 95xj6 and thought I would look around on the x300 page. You have a lot of good information and I hope to have a little to add. I do have this information on the ABS module http://forums.jag-lovers.org/av.php?1216605k87 and a place for rebuild http://www.modulemaster.com/en/index.php I hope this helps.
