Default ABS Pump/Module replacement

I've been told I have a leak in and need to replace my ABS pump. I guess simply my questions are, can I replace just the pump and not the Module? Also how complicated is the procedure? I have a quote on a good second-hand pump and am happy to change it myself but I have read that bleeding it may be a little more complicated than a caliper and that the pump and module may need to be changed as a pair. Any advice is appreciated. The fact that I'm asking may suggest it's beyond my scope. That said, things are only hard the first time you do them.

On ABS module repairs need to be a super clean work bench and cotton glove only as the synthetic kind can melt and leave a residue on the components

There may be something in the 721 or so page X300 service Doc

Code C1395 or abouts as this has to do with power to the pump from what I understand and not a pump replacement , common from reading others

The pump and the module can be replaced separately. It it tricky to replace the module without disconnecting the pump, but as you are replacing the pump it should be straightforward.
As you have identified, bleeding requires care, especially if the new pump is completely dry. On some cars there is a way to use your diagnostic tool to operate the pump to prime it, but I don’t know of one which works for the X300.
I would be inclined to fit the pump, and connect a pressure bleeder to the fluid reservoir , and bleed each of the outlet pipes from the abs pump by loosening them slightly. Retighten, and bleed as normal thereafter. Not too high a pressure on the bleeder, and give it time to get the air out.

I replace one a few years ago. Not a big deal. I had the module rebuilt because i thought that was the problem but the pump was bad. A used one cured the problem. Just bleed at the ABS pump and voila!
