Accelerator stuck (xj6 95' 4.0L)
So I just replaced a bad Body Processor Module on an xj6 with a used one off of ebay. It wasn't cranking prior to this and now that it is running its having issues with the accelerator. Whenever the accelerator is depressed it stays to where it's pressed and the rpms also stay. It goes back to normal idle when I turn the car off and back on. I'm unsure if the issue could be related to the speed control/cruise control, the new BPM I put in, something in between, or something completely unrelated. I tried unplugging the speed control but the issue persists. Wondering what my next steps are to troubleshooting this or if anyone has had similar issues.
When was the last time you cleaned out your throttle body. It is a very common occurrence for the butterfly to get gummed up with oil recirculated from the camcover.
Grab yourself a 10mm socket for the four bolts holding it to the intake manifold. There’s a small coolant hose entering/exiting from underneath that you won’t see right away. A golf tee will plug it up enough while it’s disconnected.
A can of carb cleaner and a rag and you should be fine.
