Default Air Con Compressor Pump.... Rebuildable?

The Denso air con compressor pump on my X300 3.2 is shot, when I went to have it re-gassed the air con fluid sprayed straight out of the pump....

New pumps are not cheap, so I wondered if I could rebuild my own leaky unit?

Anyone got any experience of this, especially UK owners?

Try Rock Auto. Got my Denso there and it was very reasonable.

I'm not positive but I do not think Rock Auto ships to England and if they do the cost of shipping will nullify the savings..

I'm not sure if Rock Auto ships to England either, but some of the parts I've ordered from them have come from England and Germany, so if the part you need is already located there, shipping shouldn't be bad.

To answer rowland's original question, it's quite possible you may be able to find a rebuild kit but you'll need to know the model number and possibly other details that should be marked on the compressor itself. I found these videos with a simple google search:

I've seen these as low as $130US new, and are usually around $175 so it all depends on what your time is worth.

It looks like I may be needing one soon too....

I found this on Welsh Enterprises. Has anyone ever dealt with them? I need a new compressor and am looking at a new one for about $550.00 this one is $195, but rebuilt. Thoughts on new vs. rebuilt?

Welsh Enterprises, Inc - Jaguar XJ6(95-97) / X300 Heating/Cooling A/C Components Parts - AC Compressor - Rebuilt - XJ6 95-97

Welsh has a good reputation, but if it doesn't have a warranty I would pass. I would also check on local shops for rebuild, it's not rocket science.

Thanks for the replies. I have not yet found anywhere nearby that can supply overhaul kits, but I did come across Century Auto Air which is miles away in Tucson who can supply a kit for $28 plus shipping Automobile Air Conditioning Parts of Tucson Arizona, Century Auto Air, AC Parts, AC Service and Hoses, centuryautoair.com

Wish I could find somewhere a bit nearer, but if the shipping is not too expensive Century could be the way to go....

Yes, I've dealt with them over the years with generally good results. Ask them about a discount since you're a Jaguar Forums member.

Cheers,

....apologies, for some reason my brain read this thread as the air injection pump, not A/C compressor
