Trying to track down the P0411 code air injection pump problem on the '96 Jaguar XJ6
When I turn on the ‘97 parts car I get voltage to the pump with test light.
When I turn on the problem car the test light doesn't doesn't light up.
There is a five pin relay which I have tested and switched around between cars. That doesn't fix the no voltage problem but is the correct relay because the parts car doesn’t light up with it disconnected.
I've looked for a fuse but don't see any fuses labeled for air injection pump. The wiring appears normal and no evidence of rodent damage.
I also tested both pumps as I thought it was going to be a simple switch but they are both working fine when I give them 12 volts.
I can’t take credit but my friendly mechanic figured it out. He told me the power supply from the fuse to the relay was the problem. A small connector appeared burned/corroded and intermittently worked while tracing the wiring with a test light. He soldered in a jump wire around the suspect connection which solved the problem. The system is functioning correctly and the check engine light is out.
