AJ16 Supercharged Engine & Auto Box in a XJC
Hi All
I’ve seen from some of your posts that some of you have successfully remapped the AJ16 ecu’s as well as modified them to allow the engine to run in the early XJ6.
I’m restoring a series 2 XJC and I want to fit the 4.0 supercharged engine and automatic gear box out of a 95 XJR. I have a complete 95 XJR and was hoping to fit the engine and box into the XJC.
I was wondering can you modify the existing ecu so I can use it in the XJC without the security and immobiliser and with minimal alterations but also work with the gearbox TCM. I like how the XJR drives and would prefer not to go down the road of stand alone ecu and TCM.
Any help and advice would be appreciated.
David

That is a very good question, and yes Andy, from Andy Bracket fame can do all that you need.
But luckily there is a 10 part YouTube series by well know UK Jaguar specialist Tom Lenthall, who has recently done exactly what you are doing!
I am sure any questions you have after watching, Andy or Tom will be happy to answer!

I’ve watched Tom’s videos a few times.
What a car. He was the inspiration to get this project going again.
Tom used a standalone Emerald ECU in his and because he used a manual gearbox I don’t think he had worry about communicating with the ECU.
If I can I’d like to use the cars existing ECU

Hi David,
Over the years, I have provided over a dozen reporgrammed AJ16 engine ECUs to owners putting these engines into other cars, including XJCs. I still offer an ECU reprogramming service. If you want to get in touch, then please email me directly on andystodart4@gmail.com

Hi Andy
Thanks for the response, we were talking a few weeks ago via email.
I will be in touch with you soon to go with the ECU we discussed. Getting the doner XJR started has proven a little slower than I thought.
I had to get a new key, then the crank shaft sensor was faulty and when I did get the engine to start the alternator was seized.
New alternator has arrived so hopefully I’ll get that in next week and I’ll be back on track.
Talk soon.
