Today i had very frustrating issue. Parked my car for 10 minutes without locking it.
Came back, opened the door, turn signals started flashing ( alarm system indicates that somebody entered the unlocked car and needs to be disarmed), i press then the keyfob to disarm as usual, but nothing happens.
The only way to disarm is to put the key ant turn ignition on. That helps. Car starts.
The key fob locks and unlocks the car no more.
Key fob was fully operational for more than a year, recently changed batteries in it. I still bought new batteries, changed them but with no result.
Tried disconnecting the battery for some time but that didn't help at all.
The only way to lock the car is with key - when i lock it with the key, alarm enables itself, turn signals flashes one time.
But when i unlock it with the key - door opens but the flashers start to flash constantly as if the car was opened in disarmed position. The only way to stop flashers is to put key ant turn to ignition. And this is each time i unlock the door.
My thoughts are - Should not opening the car with the key disarm the alarm system? Why the car thinks, that opening with the key is opening in disarmed position?
I tried to reprogram the fob but nothing happened. No chirps no nothing.
Anyone had been familiar with such an issue, thats frustrating me totally.

May need to " Hard Reset " the car beyond the simple pulling the B+ post off the battery for a while . This brings the car ECU's back to Zero state . Your engine will need to relearn some things and non North American models may loose the security code and lock out , so unplug first .
The original FOB batteries may have gone down and the replacement batteries may be the cheaper batteries from the dollar store that are tempting but don't have the current oomph to drive the FOB but still show the correct voltage , been there .
The connector above the fuel tank ( BT4 ) might be migrating off as the locking lever my have come loose . Mine was tywrapped closed for whatever reason to prevent this . It is a very fical connector and you have to be carful not to try to hard and not break the locking pins . I never could see the FOB antenna on the rear glass to the SLCM on the wiring guide so I'm assuming it goes through that connector

Do you mean unplug the connector first of the SLCM module?
The car is european model and will lose the code, and that means i will no longer use the remote a all, or this will disable the alarm system itself?
Remote control batteries, that i inserted was Panasonic 3 Volts, not some cheap ones, but i doubt that this was the battery case, because before everything worked properly, the car could be unlocked from quite long distance, what indicated that batteries were ok.
The concern is losing the the anti theft / security codes in the radio , so that would be unplugged . The SLCM is what you want to reset . This is the limit to my understanding and experience with the SLCM and someone with more experience may come along .
Good troubleshooting reasoning on the batteries .

I also had this problem years ago. So I used the keyfob of my wife and it did just work. So with me the problem was sitting in the remote control. Have bought another keyfob.
The original key FOB has replacement switches and rubber switch covers available on Ebay . Otherwise a good cleaning with some contact cleaner may help . If you replace the FOB there is a couple of frequencies yo need to match on the battery cover 315 and 433 hz .
I will try to inspect the key fob more in details. Is there any specific way to test it? I don't know exactly what to check, i see green and red lights flashing when buttons are pressed. It was exactly same when all was ok. What exactly happens when remote starts to fail? Is there any frequency issues? Maybe some car alarm shop could test it?
Interesting thing when i replaced the new battery - the new battery was a thick one in one peace and the old ones were 2 but thin ones. I don,t know if could make any difference.
Another thing i tried to relearn car following insructions, but the car did not went to fob learning mode. Nothing happened.
Also does anybody know how to disarm the alarm system? In my case when i leave the car unlocked the system engages itself after 20 seconds and disarming is only possible with the remote control. The key only opens the door but alarm doesn't disengages.
My idea is to disable the alarm, take after market alarm system and connect it to the door lock ground. So it will be possible to lock and unlock the car with the non OEM remote control.
Does anybody tried that?

As long as the 2 batteries add up . I think the 2 batteries are 1.7 volts volts and there is a TSB on 315 and 433 hz systems being intermixed down the production line as there or 3 TSB's in the list . Just picked up a 315 at the salvage yard although mine is fine
Well funny thing, the problem was in remote control.
I took it to repair shop, it appeared to be non working.
Told my story with new battery and the problem was that inserted wrong one. Remote was ok, problem was battery type.
There were two thin batteries CR2016 3 volts and instead of them I inserted one thick CR2032 Also 3V.
Remote works on 6 volts and on 3 volts obviously not
So conclusion is always look what you are buying. Even the batteries must be doublechecked
