So I was driving down the road yesterday when I notice my battery light was on and that my car was over heating, I pull over pop the hood look around and final i notice the belt for the alternator and water pump is missing. Now this belt was just changed along with all the rest. I think its the alternator that may have locked up. Looking for possible other reasons similar stories.

Unfortunately car components don't last forever. How many miles on this pump ? I would have thought you would have heard noises of distress from the pump before it seized up.

So the pump was badly locked up, took it off and the blades covered in rust. Before there was a bad squeal sounded like a loose belt but now its quiet. Car runs great not to hard to repalce.
