The gear/mode you are currently in is supposed to glow red. If it doesn't glow red at all, then the led backlight has probably died. Also, sometimes those red lights can be finicky. Say you move from N to D, so now D is red, but if you wiggle the stick just a little bit away from D and then back again the red light will go off and stay off until you cycle right out of D and back again. At least that's what mine seems to do.

I don't have a sport mode on the 3.2, but as I understand it sport mode will let it rev higher before shifting. If you were cruising in tp gear at a constant speed, then switching to sprot mode shouldn't make much difference? If it doesn't light up then that probably means the bulb is just blown.

The sport switch can be carefully opened up and the tiny "grain of wheat" bulb replaced...Radio Shack or similar has the bulbs. This is for backlighting only. When the switch is flipped a green "Sport" icon should appear on the instrument cluster.

You should notice quite a difference in shift points with/without "sport" mode

Cheers

No "sport" light in the dash comes on. The only light on the dash is traction off when I turn the traction controll off. Also the car sometimes won't come out if park till I **** with tilting the wheel up and down. Starting to find the little stuff now. Plus the check engine light just came in but runs fine still.....
