anyone rebuilt swaybar end links?

Default anyone rebuilt swaybar end links?
i already ordered whole replacements but i got to looking at them and seems you could just pop out the center tube and easily press in new rubber
anyone done this before?

they're $8-18 on Rock auto. why sweat new rubbers?
