Default Auto lock feature.

Hi Guys,
I originally posted this question on the "General Tech Help" forum but I was advised to post it on here which I will do below.
I will then make a note on the other forum to guide folk over here.
I just hope that is the correct forum etiquette.

When I start to drive away from a standstill in my 1995 XJ6 3.2 (X300 - UK spec) there is a "CLICK" noise and all 4 doors lock. I can see the logic of this as an Anti Car-jacking solution but personally, I would rather it didn't happen. I would much rather press that button on the dash that looks like a car door to lock / unlock all the doors manually and as required.
As I understand it, I should be able to take my car into a Jaguar Main Dealers and get them to disable this automatic feature but I have a couple of questions.

1 ... Is it possible to do this properly at home?
2 ... Is it a case of, "Just sit there and have a coffee while I get one of the lads to do it", or is it a case of, "We'll call you next week when you can come and collect your car".
3 ... Is there a charge to do this and if there is, what would be the normal cost? I would hate to get there and then collapse in a quivering heap on the showroom floor after being told that it costs £220.
I have read some other threads on this subject but there don't seem to be any definite Yes / No answers to any of the questions.
Cheers,
Steve

LOL..sure...as long as you have WDS at home...

Best to sit behind them if possible and get them to show you all the selectable features and have them set up the car as you want it. I'm not sure what all items can be turned on/off, but the screen "dealer options" or something that they have to go to to disable drive away locking is where it all is.

Sorry...no clue on #3...but beware not all dealerships/personnel seem to be up-to-speed on how it is done and where...I'd ask..."What charge for a WDS scan and to set some "dealer-options" like drive-away-locking for me?"

AutoEnginuity scanner with Jag-specific bundle MAY be able to do it..but I don't know about that.

Motorcarman has WDS and fixed mine for me just as you are saying you'd like it....and it is wonderful...I don't feel like I'm using up my lock actuators now!

Getting my car over to The Lone Star State to be fixed in his shop would be brilliant if only I could find some way of shipping my car across the Atlantic and then driving it through about 12 states and all for free. .
I know what you mean though. Maybe I can find some guy local to me with the same kit.
Cheers,
Steve

Update .... I have just got off the blower to a dealership a few towns over and a woman there put me in touch with a guy about 2 miles from me who doesn't sell Jaguars but he has some sort of deal with Jaguar to look after car servicing etc. I spoke to him for a while and the upshot is that I take the car in on Tuesday, get myself a brew and the job gets done.
They are not entirely sure how to do it yet because they have never been asked to do it before but they DO know that it can be done. He said that if it is a simple case of hooking it up to their machines and pressing a few buttons there will be no charge but if it entails surgery, there will be a nominal charge of £5.
I call that a result.
Cheers,
Steve

glad to hear it. All the "work" involved is finding the right screen in his system. From the car's side...he just needs the OBDII Plug and "key=on"

Pretty sure it is called "Dealer Options" in the WDS, but I guess there is an IDS as well that may be different and possibly even the AE w/Jag bundle since it is reputed capable of reading all the modules. You can probably estimate the cost based on how many beers you quaff before he notifies you it is ready:-)

IDS is almost the same as WDS so you navigate to..

Vehicle Configuration (the car with the wrench)

Dealer Options

Then choose the things you wand ENABLED/DISABLED

Update ..... I took the Jag to the guy's shop which is actually a small corner of a main Ford dealership. He got me booked in and settled in a comfy chair with a brew and a Jag brochure and in less than 10 minutes I was being handed my keys back. All done and dusted with no charge.
The coffee wasn't bad either .
I have no idea what they did to the car or what other options could be changed. Health & Safety rules kept me out of the oily area of the building.
Cheers,
Steve

Is the locks off track? Is it making the noise and not locking the doors in the cabinet of the Jag? I was having an issue with mine over this past week after taking the car out of storage I got inside the door and sprayed everything down with WD-40 and it worked fine after that.
If not it may just be a cable or something off track which could possibly be an easy fix.

There never was a fault with my car's doors or locks. They worked perfectly.
The only problem was that a factory setting needed to be altered for my convenience so that the doors did not lock automatically
