How much and how hard is it to replace the ball joints in a xj6 1997

You should add detail on whether you are asking about upper, lower or both.

Lots of price variation on the ball joints, you can get them for anything from $20-100 depending on brand. Factory spec lemforder are about $50.

Pretty easy job to replace both lower and upper joints and tie rod end, just be careful when you break the tapers as the hub will kick out.

Make note of the location of the shims on the upper joints as they control castor.

 

Also if you change the rod ends, carefully measure and mark the position of the existing end and try to put the new one in the same spot. It would be advisable to have the alignment checked after doing the job.

 

Ya I'm doing these soon. I have parts. I got cheap ones. So ill show you how to open and grease them yourself before install.
