Default Battery Trouble

1996 XJR with 60K miles stored during winters.

Had same battery problems with '93 XJ6 for as long as I had it. Battery just sucked even after replacing.

The XJR currently has this battery in it: Delphi BU-93-825

It is rather large vs normal sized battery. This is roughly 13" x 6.5" I do not know if it is the original. I always start it 2-3 times a month over winter. And every time I had to use my little battery charger for 10 mins prior to starting.

Fired it up today with nice weather after charging, drove it around the block for 10 mins. Ran perfect. Just for kicks came back out hour later. NOTHING. Just clicked, all my lights worked inside/out. I wanted to replace the battery this summer anyways so...

Went to Sears trying to get a good Die Hard battery. Their computer pulled up a Die Hard International E-2 (with vent like mine has on top), but it is a smaller normal size battery...

I don't know if that battery is safe to use or where to get a different one. Looked online and other stores with no luck. Most places didnt even have a battery listed for XJ6/R.

Any help would be appreciated before purchasing one.

if you go to an autozone store,

49-DL group size,
around 90 or so dollars,
looks like this,

I personally would go for an Optima yellowtop,
I'm waiting for this one to die so I can justify buying one.

Thanks guys, FYI, my buddy has gone through 3 Optima yellow batteries in two summers for his Jeep Grand Cherokee. It's supposed to be a deep cycle battery and withstand his huge stereo system. Battery was like $200...and I dont know if he had a bad batch at the store or what, but my friend is not fond of it!

More importantly Cadillac, where did or do you buy those Varta batteries??? I was on their site, they look awesome, but the USA wasn't even listed for the "where to buy or store locator section..."

I have encountered a bad flu of bad yellowtops, but I used to sell them, and if you get a good one, its good.

but,
Varta is fantastic as well :]

Thanks again guys. It was funny I went to the auto section in Wal Mart today...and mentioned that I knew someone that thought they carried the Varta batteries here. Oh boy, did they look at me like I was from another planet Good times at Waly Mart thats for sure. Those batteries on their site looked very impressive too! oh well.

Needless to say, found an awesome Bosch battery at Pep Boys for about $100. Exact size I needed. If anyone else is confused in future about the battery sizes this is what I found out in most places computer systems and battery book lookups:

The 1995 & 96 XJ6/R are listed as a battery that's normally sized (not like pictured above). The 1997 XJ's are listed as a larger battery for some reason...looked at them both being Bosch. Same darn things, different sizes. So I bought the one that is the larger perfect fit for what should be in out trunks.
