Our ‘96 XJR has the cream colored interior and beige carpet. I discovered that the black foam backing of the floor mats has disintergrated and gotten a combination of the decomposed foam backing and what I think is the adhesive for the foam backing to deposit on our carpet. Simply brushing did not work, as the adhesive appears to be a binder. What can be used to safely clean the carpet without discoloring them?
