Boardy 95 XJR
Hi All
I am the owner of a 95 XJR X300. My front passenger seat squab will move forward but not backward. I am thinking that the motor is not the fault, but some electronic device that changes the polarity of the power supply to reverse the motor. Has anybody had the same problem and any ideas.

Boardy,
As you have already posted an Intro ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...boardy-239545/ ), I've moved your question to X300 forum for advice from memebers with the same model.

There is a auto position version of the seat referred to as memory
You may see a memory 1 2 3 4 on the driver window control panel
The other version does not by not having position sensors in the seat
I guess the way you can tell is the part # of the seat electronic unit
https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.../brand/jaguar/
This is where the polarity changes
With the connector removed you should be able to drive the motors back and forth by swapping your power test lead polarity
See page 139 , Y , and Z

Try a lighter touch on the switch. Mine does this if you push the switch fully down in the rearwards movement direction, but works if you depress the switch about two thirds of the way down. Not Ideal, but I have filed it as a first world problem for the time being given how rarely my passenger seat is moved.
Parker 2 :Tks for you input. My memory system works OK on the drivers seat. My problem is with the passenger seat.
During many attempts to get the squab to move backwards, I have inadvertently moved it forward to a very upright position which makes it uncomfortable.
My next step is to remove the seat anchor bolts and tipping the entire seat rearwards to give access to the underside.

my drivers seat does this. try pushing the oval button in against the seat as hard as you can, then holding it pushed in, slide it back. this works on mine...

Tks for that. I decided to investigate the button before delving deeper. Your advice was correct, I took the button off and moved the button, low and behold the electrics worked as designed, squab and headrest. Problem solved. Thanks again.
