Default Boot release not working properly.

So,
something that has just started happening recently is my boot release is not working properly.

when i turn the key the latch lets go and the boot pops up nicely.
however when i push the button on the dash, the button on the boot or the button on the remote the boot does not pop up.
the actuator works you can hear it going, and it kind releases.
like i can pull the put open. it is unlocking it it but when i go to pull it up it feels it is stuck then it releases.

so in short the electronic boot release is not properly popping the boot.
is there some kind of adjustment on the actuator at all?
or is it something that would require an actuator replacement?

maybe there is an adjustment to screw it tighter you think?
might have to try and get in there and have a look at some point.
have to try and see what rod it pulls.
wonder if there are and images around.

i am not sure if my brain ever wakes up.
certainly needs a couple of coffees first....

anyway off to bed for me

There are some pics on earlier posts

The actuator pulls the rods to the cars right

Still can't think , time for a big honker Gyro

This is a pic of the center latch mechanism , you don't have to get the fire ax out

Haha yeah no fire axe will be used.
def remove boot carpet and look that way
i assume one of those rods is from the mechanical mechansim (lock barrel) and the other is from the electronic mechanisim (actuator from the button)

The actuator and rods are in the trunk lid

Can't remember the details on the rod ends

SPUD... Have you tried adjusting the striker a small amount? It is very fiddly adjustment but might improve the unlatching at the sweet spot.

I wonder if the trunk struts wearing out makes any difference as they push upward slightly. My lid raises only very slightly at unlocking.

LOVE the fire ax post #4 Parker! Hilarious. Looks like someone actually did that?

have not looked at trying to adjust the striker at all. i was thinking that maybe thats it, but, when turning the key the striker does release properly and the boot does pop up.

don't think the struts would cause anything, but possible. its not like they are gas struts like under the bonnet.

and when you say adjust the striker what do yo mean? like shifiting it a little to the left or right?
because maybe that could be it.
maybe when i was fixing something i have put it back in the wrong place and did not notice.

ok so repaired. very very easy fix.

the top rod is the one that attaches to the actuator.
there is no adjustment on the rod.

what i did was simply remove the actuator and bracket,
remove the actuator from the bracket.
drill out the mounting holes to offer some adjustment
re mounted the actuator so it sits further over on the bracket and closer to the RHS of the bootlid.
re mounted the bracket to the boot.
viola. perfect.

basically in short i just enlarged the holes on the bracket so the actuator could be mounted further away from the latch enabling the rod to have more pull.
