central locking bouncing 3 times before locking!
Hmm, it didn't do this before clearing a code 1641....may not be related though!
Been messing with the Jaguar today and went to lock her and found the central locking now is boucing 3 times before locking.
1....WD-40 the door locks? I've blasted them anyway..the drivers doorlock is a little stiff on the key.
2....sign of a 'in car' battery getting tired? Just put the battery on charge its pulling quite a charge into it, I've seen this with Mercs before.
....any advise guys? I think I may recheck the alternator volts under load for a intermitant fault....I did notice the blower speeded up at idle then slowed once the revs were up, strange?
Just been going thru the history and this old bus has only just covered....5,000 k miles in the last 9 years!
....methinks she needs using a and few gremlins will pop out the over the next few weeks?

(also with increased speed, intermittent wiper speeds up, radio gets louder, and steering gets stiffer, btw)

In a word, YES! These cars are extremely sensitive to battery voltage, and it might not be just voltage. As a battery gets some age, its impedence rises, allowing the alternator to cause ripple on the power bus. Several of us have theorized, but not proved , that the ECUs capacitors might be falling in efficiency, making a older battery even more of a problem.
BTW, the P1621 is apparently related to the immobiliser system. We don't have that in the US, but that might be related to your cold crank problem. The battery, or the key switch... there is a "side to side" movement of the switch that activates the transponder reader. As I said, we US guys won't be able to help you with the diagnosis of that, but some of the other forums with more Brits have some more information.

Sorry, forgot to add a resolved this thread...the problem came back even with a new battery...maybe a new battery just masked the problem a little, it was simply down to stiff door locks components maybe down to lack of use of my Jag'
I stripped all the doorcards off the doors (and boot lid) and drowned the door and boot lock actuators, all and any moving parts in WD-40 (and some that didn't!) greased the operating rods before refitting and all is OK now.
Didn't take too long, maybe an a couple of hours max', but before pulling door cards do have some spare door card bushes and pins, I have the correct tools to pull the cards but still broke a few.
Hope this helps someone
