Default Changing boot catch

Hi there, have been repainting the boot lid on the x300, just put everything together and the boot catch won’t undo every time! Luckily had the boot open and tested it before closing it.

the actuator is working, it’s a problem with the actual mechanism at the bottom of the boot below the number plate, have sprayed with wd40 and works intermittently, I’ve ordered a second hand one off eBay but is it easy to change? I see 3 screws and the 2 metal bars/wires that move the mechanism, is it just an easy case of take one out and plug another in?
is there a video or photos anywhere to make it clearer? Thankyou

Other then the mechanism itself The X300 has a history of the wire bundle on the right hinge arm getting damaged possibly accounting for some intermit problems

You'll have to inspect carefully for exposed wires and possible broken wires inside the individual insulation

There was something about a sliding bar getting worn

See parts diagraph link :

On mine it definitely looks like everything is moving as it should except the actual catch isn’t springing open each time, it’s as though it’s sticking inside, I’ve ordered another and just wondering is it an easy one out and another in scenario?

press the button and compare to manual key operation.

motor might be weak. you can see where the actuator moves the bar

It makes no difference, if I use the key or press the button the bar moves but the catch often sticks. Hence I think it’s the latch mechanism that is the problem and not the actuator. I see it’s easy to remove the 3 screws holding the latch but is it easy to undo the 2 bars that go to the lock and actuator? Thankyou
