I thought I’d share with you a couple of mods I’ve been experimenting with.
I have the drivers door card off to repair a small tear in the leather.
I also thought I’d replace the disintegrated and filthy door pocket liner.. but rather than use cloth, I have some off cuts of leather.. I also used a bit to modify the window switch surround. I’ve gone for Black on the switch surround and oatmeal for the door pocket, I also opted for a Matt finish for the door pocket as I thought it would be more in keeping with the original cloth.



Stitching in a leather off cut.

A layer of scrim foam, then glued both leather and scrim in place..

3 coats of oatmeal leather colourant…

Matt finish leather sealant.. job done ready for refitting..

Window switches as they came out…

Stripped down and cleaned…

Leather off cut glued on and holes cut out…

Trim off all excess leather to give room for switches..

Switches fitted….

Looks ok I think!!

 

Looks great, nice work. I like the leather around the buttons.
My door pocket fabrics have seen better days, so I might look into doing similar. I also need to change bulbs for the light switches.
Do you have any pics of the finished door?

 

I have a couple of repairs to do on the leather before reassembly, I’ll post pics when it’s back together 👍🏼
