Default Which crankshaft sensor should I buy?

SNG Barratt has 3 varieties:

LHE1640AA - Original Jaguar, $150.
LHE1640AA# - supposedly OEM? $107
LHE1640AA* - no-name white box

Generally speaking I would stay away from no-name white box stuff, but SNG Barratt is a reputable vendor, so I might get adventurous.

I can also buy LHE1640AA made by "Standard Motor Products" from rock auto for a little less than $100.

Does anybody know who was the OEM manufacturer of this sensor? Is "Standard Motor Products" any good? They seem to be fond of making arcane electrical parts for long-obsolete british machinery. I am wondering if they were the original supplier back in the day.

OEM is Lucas, and the standard product one is also made by Lucas.
I don't trust Lucas very much. If the no brand one is half as much as the OEM one, I would take the no brand one.

I have the Standard Motor Products version. Works fine after several years.

I don't know if SMP manufactures much, if anything, itself. I think they might've become another label-engineering company. <shrug>

Cheers
